Rosemary Gould Rosemary Gould - violin and viola

Rosemary gained an Associated Board scholarship to study the violin at the Royal Academy of Music and is a freelance violinist with many orchestras. In addition to teaching the violin and viola and coaching chamber groups at Bishop’s Stortford College, she is an Associated Board examiner and mentor for the CTABRSM teaching course. She really enjoys working at the Bishop's Stortford College as there are so many opportunities for music making and, as an enthusiastic gardener, takes keen interest in the gardening projects around the campus!
   
Ysobel Latham - violin and viola

Ysobel won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music where she studied with Frederick Grinke, having spent three years in the National Youth Orchestra. This was followed by a year at the Brussels Conservatoire. She was in turn a member of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, ENO and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. She played the Tenor Viol in the London Consort of Viols, playing on the then BBC Third Programme. For many years she has taught the violin and viola at Kings College School, Cambridge and Bishop's Stortford College, and sings in the London Madrigal Society. She loves watching cricket and football and is a keen supporter of Aston Villa.

Tim Steggles

Tim Steggles - 'cello

 

Tim graduated from the Royal College Of Music in 1999 with a BMus(Hons) degree. He then went on to take a Postgraduate Diploma in Solo and Ensemble playing before becoming a Junior Fellow in 2002.

   

During his time at the College he was a founding member of the award winning and highly acclaimed Newbold Piano Quartet which has performed extensively throughout the United Kingdom and abroad including the Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room, Cheltenham International Music Festival and recordings and broadcasts for Radio 3 and Classic Fm.

As well as his love of chamber music, Tim also performs regularly with many of London’s leading orchestras including the the London Chamber Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and London and BBC Concert Orchestras.

On a lighter note recent performances include ITV’s “An Audience With Barry Manilow” in conjunction with a run of shows at the O2, a charity event with Dionne Warwick in London's Park Lane Hotel and in 2010 he played with Sting in the USA and Canada on the first leg of his Symphonicities World Tour as well as recording several tracks for the accompanying album recorded at London's Abbey Road Studios.

Tim has a real passion for teaching and over the last 18 years has taught pupils aged 3 to 80 from beginner through to music college standard. He thoroughly enjoys his teaching at the College and in particular the work he does in the Pre-Prep which has led to a large increase in the number of pupils taking up cello in the Junior school.

   
Gemma Wareham - 'cello and double bass

Gemma graduated with a Masters in Music with distinction from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2007, following an undergraduate degree at the University of Manchester. She moved to London shortly after her studies, having been awarded a place in Britain's young professional orchestra, Southbank Sinfonia. Chamber music is central to Gemma's work and she is a founding member of the Berkeley Ensemble in London. With the ensemble, Gemma has performed extensively throughout the UK and abroad and has been involved in numerous education projects delivering live chamber music to young people in schools across the country. She divides the rest of her time between teaching, both at Bishop's Stortford College and schools in London, and freelancing, and has recently appeared with Manchester Camerata, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre.
