Dahling You were Marvellous

I particularly wanted to see this production of 'Dahling You were Marvellous' written by Steven Berkoff as I am a fan of my L5th Alliott tutees and my L5th maths set, as well as Sarah Gibson's work in the drama department.

I certainly wasn't disappointed. The play was set in a 'watering hole' with the atmosphere created by clever use of the mirror ball, and I loved the opening set with the lovely tulips in the little pots so tastefully painted by Lawrence Meyers.

The cast gave a striking, choreographed introduction making very good use of the space between the tables and good rhythmic movement to set the scene for the characters, all of whom were were part of the theatrical chattering set.

The pupils threw themselves into their roles and didn't flinch at having to emphasize their characters.

There were some tricky moments for them as they had to change character several times and I was impressed with the clever use of lighting different parts of the theatre in order to use the space available to the best advantage.

It was, all in all, yet another imaginative production. Well done to all concerned.   TEW
