“Last year we were delighted with record-breaking results,” reflected Headmaster, John Trotman, “so to have bettered that this year is an outstanding outcome. I do congratulate students and staff on this excellent achievement. Once again I am struck by the fact that these pupils have been outstanding in so many extra-curricular areas, too: proof, if any were needed, that A level success and first class sporting, cultural and community activities can flourish together. I am delighted.”

Record 68% A*-A at GCSE |

Every pupil in every subject achieved a grade C or above |
|
The
College recorded their best ever results at GCSE this year with 68 per cent A* -A grades compared to the national average of 19 per cent. Top grades were not confined to the high fliers though, with every pupil in every subject achieving a grade C or above.
Of the 87 pupils, 30 qualified for the independent school’s “10 club tie”, awarded to pupils who gain 10 or more A or A* grades including ICT Short Course. Following the success last week in A level Physics, the
College continues to buck the national trend with an incredible 98% of Physics exams graded A* or A compared to the national average of 47%. |

Joanna Green
achieved A*s in all 11 of her subjects. Another of the College’s top performers, Lucy Fallen
sat 13 subjects, achieving 11 A*s, an A and a B. “I am really pleased to have done so well, especially in German which was one of my two extra subjects. I had to have lessons at lunchtime to fit everything in so I’m glad that the extra work paid off.” Lucy has also managed to successfully juggle her academic studies this year with a full programme of high profile dressage competitions. She represented England in the Necarne International Dressage Festival earlier this year and was one of only twenty-five in England who qualified for the Hickstead Dressage Masters’ League Chamionships. Lucy will start her A level courses in History, Latin, Maths, Chemistry and Geography in a few weeks time.
Stephen Long scored 10 A*s and 1B and Rikesh Rajani, Adam Smalley, Rosie Gibson and Lucy Baish all scored 9 A*s and 2 As. Lucy
who returned two weeks ago from San Francisco where she was performing with the National Youth Strings Academy, said, “I was quite concerned about my Maths and Physics and had worked very hard for them so I’m really pleased.” Lucy had her first experience of the Old Bailey yesterday as part of a week’s work experience in barristers’ chambers with a view to pursuing a career in law. In the short term, she is looking forward to taking A levels in German, Music, Latin and History.
Headmaster, John Trotman said: “I am absolutely delighted; these results are a testament to excellent teaching and the commitment of both our pupils and staff. 68 per cent A* or A is wonderful, but the strength of value-added is reflected in the success right across the ability range with every pupil achieving a grade C or above in all their subjects.” |
