Team game secures tournament trophy

A fine all-round performance brought victory to the College Junior School at an inter-school cricket tournament on Thursday 23rd June. The U13 team took on seven schools in the annual Brandeston Hall competition. They beat St Joseph’s School, Ipswich in the first round by 112 runs, with Harry Ramsden and Robert Heslop both making fifties, before winning by 9 wickets against Norwich School in the semi-final. Tom Pearman took 3 wickets and Harry Ramsden and Oliver Bishop saw their team through to the final with 30 not out and 29 not out respectively.

In the final, the College beat St.Faith’s School, Cambridge by 9 wickets with an unbeaten 35 not out by Harry Ramsden, who, with a total of 123 runs for only once out was awarded the Batsman of the Tournament. The whole side fielded superbly throughout the day, with four run outs being the highlight in the final, showing that cricket really is a team game. George Cullen, in particular, was outstanding in the field.

Other competing schools: St.Joseph's School (Ipswich), Norwich School, St.Faith’s School, Cambridge,Taverham Hall, Town Close, Holmwood House, and the hosts, Brandeston Hall School.
