Cambridge Footlights at the College

'Niceties'
A funny, light-hearted evening was enjoyed by all who went to see the Cambridge Footlights this evening at the Leo Price Theatre. This traditional Cambridge comic group, started in 1936, has spawned the likes of great comedians such as Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, John Cleese, Douglas Adams and Graeme Garden. This new group has certain potential as the future of British comedy, an increasingly vital part of our culture. The stars that night were Simon Bird, Helen Cripps, Tiani Ghosh, Sam Kitchener and Joe Thomas. All the aforementioned are writers as well as performers, and particular congratulations are in order for their esteemed director, Dan Mansell. With laughs ranging from quiet chuckles to clutching your sides, the Cambridge Footlights were able to cover a wide range of topics, twists and time periods. Such highlights included paintball, with a knife- wielding participant, Internet blogging concerning the highs and lows of Narnia, and two very bizarre and independent Wembley stadium architects. If you didn’t go, you missed a great show!
