Winner of Tetley film competition announced

A talented student, Edgars Dubrovskis, from Bishop’s Stortford College, Hertfordshire has beaten over 200 entries in the first Tetley film competition to win the first prize of a Sony high definition camcorder and Vaio laptop, £250 cash, plus national recognition for his achievements.

Edgars Dubrovskis produced a 30 second ‘advert’ that promotes the theme, ‘Tetley is tea and tea is brilliant’. It finishes with the end line, ‘Tetley, everyone’s cup of tea’. The College’s film flashes through images of different people all drinking from the same Tetley mug, showing that Tetley really is everyone’s cup of tea.

Allen Hunt, Brand Manager for Tetley said, “The standard of entries was outstandingly strong, so the judging process took far longer than expected. The film from Bishop’s Stortford College stood out for its creativity, technical skill and its strong communication of the fact that tea is a brilliant, healthy drink that everyone can enjoy. We are proud of the fact that the brand is perceived as friendly, down to earth and fun to be with, and this film certainly communicates this superbly.

Mike Tomkys, Head of Media Studies at Bishop’s Stortford College said, “We are really delighted that Edgars Dubrovskis has won this prestigious new competition. Tetley certainly put the students’ creativity to the test. The team here enjoyed collaborating in answering a specific technical brief with tough guidelines, as they will no doubt experience when they work in a commercial environment. ”

Allen Hunt added, “The films entered varied from cartoon animation to ‘table top’ footage, musical drama and all kinds of technical wizardry. The winner really stood out for his ability to answer the brief, which is what positive communication is all about.”
