Batman and Robin – also known as maths teacher Jonathan Herd and gap year student Christopher Watt – were among the five-strong contingent of teaching staff from
the College Junior School who pounded the capital’s roads for over four hours to complete the 2005 London Marathon. Joining them were PE instructor Robin Thomas, science master Adrian Hathaway and mathematician Helen Auster. Christopher, currently working as a sports assistant in the Junior School before going to university, said, “It was brilliant! The crowds chanted the Batman and Robin theme tune as we ran passed.”
The dynamic duo crossed the finish line after 4 hrs 39 mins, though they were pipped by Ms Auster, who completed in 4 hrs 36 mins. Mr Hathaway came in at 4 hrs 44 mins and Mr Thomas at 5 hrs 30
mins. Congratulations to you all!
