Having welcomed many well-known, nationally recognised authors, we were delighted to introduce a “new writing talent” to the Junior School pupils on February 9th 2006. 

Peter J Murray is currently taking the children’s book world by storm with his trilogy of Mokee Joe books:

Two years ago Peter was a Deputy Head at Cheam School and now he is the successful author of the Mokee Joe trilogy, the first of these, Mokee Jo Is Coming, has already won the prestigious Sheffield Children’s Book Award. 

The novels are spooky action adventures involving three primary school children and their scary encounters with a mysterious shadowy figure, Mokee Joe. 

Peter re-enacted parts of the story and his presentation was highly entertaining, dynamic and interactive. The appearances of the 7ft alien, Mokee Joe in the novel are quite frightening, but the charm and humour of Peter himself made his transformation into Mokee Joe not quite such a sinister occasion.
