U14 Netball District Champions

On a wet and cold Tuesday afternoon the U14A team stormed to  victory to take the Under 14 District Trophy.  They played some excellent netball and worked so well as a team. They went from strength to strength winning all of their 1st round matches very convincingly beating Saffron Walden  8-2, Hockerill 10-0, Freman College 8-2 and Mountfitchet  14-0. They then met our own B team in the semi-final and in an exciting match the A team  won 7-1. They were looking invincible as they went into the final against St Marys. This proved to be a fine match with accurate passing, superb shooting and solid defence winning the match for them by 9 goals to 7. District Champions! wow what a thrill and so thoroughly deserved. It is hard to mention anyone in particular as the whole team worked so hard and so well together, I was so very proud of them all.

The B team really do deserve a  mention, they were winners in their round, losing 0-3 to Herts & Essex in their first match then gaining confidence and strength winning against Freman College B 7-2, Birchwood 5-1 and Helena Romanes 4-1. They then met our own A team and straight afterwards had to play St.Marys where they lost 2-6. They were a credit both to themselves and the College. Well done to all.

The A team consisted of Katie Chambers, Holly Ashdown, Charlotte Aitchison, Alex Robson, Olivia Marsh, Amy Sewell and Katie Rowley.

The B team consisted of Millie Nellis-Pain, Rosie Cave, Hannah Witchalls, Daisy Armstrong-Brown, Olivia Anderton, Grace Stubbs, Lottie Whalley and Sinead Lynch.

On behalf of the girls I would like to thank our avid supporters,  and our umpires and coaches Mrs Shepherd, Mrs Witchalls (and for all the goodies!) and Mrs Chambers. Thank you all!             JW
