U18 Netball District Tournament

On a freezing cold Wednesday afternoon  with rain, sleet and finally a heavy snow storm,  our two U18 teams played in the District Tournament.

The B team put in fine performances and challenged some tough opposition in their round, their results were: Birchwood lost 3-7, Freman College drew 1-1, St Marys A lost 0-6, Herts & Essex drew 3-3 and Leventhorpe A lost 3-8. Well done to all the team especially in such terrible weather conditions.

Our A team played on what can only be described as a muddy car park (yes complete with pot holes and cars driving through the matches!). Nevertheless our girls, District Champions last year, played some fine netball and the A team convincingly won their round to go through to the semi final beating The Bishop's Stortford High School 14-0, Newport 9-3, Leventhorpe B 6-2, Hockerill 10-0, Saffron Walden 15-0 and in their final match of the round they drew 1-1 with St Marys after 4 minutes when the heavens opened and the court and the girls were white and so the match was abandoned. It was a disappointment as the girls were playing really well despite conditions. The semi final is to be re-arranged before the end of term. Watch this space!

The B team consisted of Chloe Palmer (Captain), Beth Wheaton, Georgia Swayne, Elizabeth Bruce, Charlotte Croker, Laura Beckwith and Emily Woodhouse.

The A team consisted of Izelle Wagner (Captain), Elspeth Limer, Anna Taylor, Issy Rolfe, Helen Trantum, Tonica Hunter and Aimee Swayne.                      JW

Can you see any of the girls!

Oh there they are!
