U18 Netball District Champions - 3rd time!

The U18 District Tournament was played at Leventhorpe School on a freezing cold Wednesday afternoon but at least for once it did not rain! The girls were very anxious to retain the title we had won for the last two years and in the early matches the A team certainly made their presence felt winning their round convincingly, Freman College B 14-2, Leventhorpe 10-3, The Bishop's Stortford High School 8-4 and Saffron Walden 17-0. Our B team played some of the finest netball I have seen them play all season and were unfortunate not to be runners up in their round. Their results were: Birchwood 4-2, Freman College A 4-5, Helena Romanes 3-4, St Marys 7-7 and Herts & Essex 1-10. The A team met Freman College A in the semi final and completely overpowered them to win 11-1. In the final they met  Leventhorpe who they had already beaten in the first round, however it would seem that Leventhorpe had warmed up and settled into their game since we met earlier in the afternoon and at full time we were drawing on 4-4. However in extra time we found renewed strength and determination to eventually win 12-5. Retaining the trophy was an excellent end to a fine season. Well done to all the girls!     JW

The squad consisted of Chloe Palmer (Captain), Jess Abidde, Tonica Hunter, Becky Harrison, Helen Trantum, Lori Campbell, Fran Townsend and Charlotte Croker (who was unfortunately injured and unable to play)
