Learning and fun go hand in hand at a new interactive science centre which has opened its doors at
the College. Designed to intrigue and engage, the Science Action Centre houses more than thirty-five interactive displays, linked to national curriculum topics, for inquisitive young minds to explore. Whether discovering the magic of magnets and mirrors, experimenting with light, sight and sound, or creating a water fountain using resonance, children are absorbed in the joy of discovery from the moment they arrive.
Available, free of charge, to all primary schools in the area, the hands-on resource centre has taken a dedicated team of staff and pupils at
the College over eighteen months to design and build. Dr John Williams, Head of Science at the independent school led the initiative: “The declining interest in pursuing science to higher levels among young people nationally is a very real concern and our goal as teachers must be to give children an appetite for science from a young age. The Science Action Centre is intended to provide a stimulating environment which enables children to discover the joy of learning about science by doing science.”
