2006 Prep School national championships

The College Junior School was well represented at the finals of the 2006 Prep School (IAPS) national swimming championships. An impressive total of seventeen pupils successfully qualified at the regional rounds held in January from which only the fastest 16 IAPS times go through. 

Twelve year old Deanne Evans from London was the College’s top performer at the girls’ national finals in Crawley on Saturday 13th May swimming a second quicker than her previous PB to win the Bronze medal in the U12 50m Backstroke (37.07). Rachel Green just missed out on a medal, coming 4th in the U13 50m backstroke (37.68 PB). There were fine performances also from Charlotte Barton who finished 10th in the U11 50m Backstroke (39.91 PB); Katie Taylor came 13th in the U12 50m freestyle (34.67 PB); Roisin Devine was 7th in the U12 50m breaststroke (44.31 PB); Pippa Lane, 13th in the U13 50m frontcrawl (36.09) and Bethany Fellowes-Prynne finished 6th in the U13 25m butterfly (17.04 PB).

In the boys’ finals held at Millfield School in Somerset on Sunday 21st May, Tristan Clapp also achieved a PB of 39.51 in the U12 50m backstroke to finish 8th whilst Tom Firmin came 12th overall in the U12 50m breaststroke (46.32). In the U10 group, Jake O’Keefe came 8th in the 25m backstroke (19.47) whilst in the U13 category, Matthew Barton finished 12th in the 50m breaststroke (42.45)
